The story
Inspired by petroglyphs carved into mountainsides, bearing the words of Obaid ibn al-Abras, one of the most celebrated pre-Islamic poets, whose name is still remembered wherever the Mu'allaqat are spoken of: the poems once hung on the walls of the Kaaba in honour of their importance.
Whoever asks people for his needs, they deny him; but whoever asks God will never be disappointed.
These petroglyphs are found today in Saudi Arabia and date to around 400–598 BC.
