The story
Inspired by the words carved into the walls of Al-Andalus: “Wa la ghaliba illa Allah”, there is no victor but God.
The phrase is repeated throughout the murals adorning the courtyards and entrances of the Nasrid palaces of Bani al-Ahmar, most of which vanished with the fall of Granada. Yet the inscription still draws travellers from all over the world. These carvings date from around the 11th to the 14th century and were discovered in Granada, southern Spain.
