The story

Inspired by petroglyphs carved onto rock walls by the ancient Bedouin, the traditional inhabitants of the desert who lived and travelled across its land. The carvings tell the story of human life in Arabia: humans and animals such as camels, ibex and horses, alongside lines and circles that experts believe were messages left for one another, directions to hidden springs, or news of who had last passed through.

Together these engravings offer a glimpse into the development of human thought, tracing pastoral, agricultural and urban life. They were found in the Jordanian desert and date to prehistoric times.
