The story

Inspired by the ancient "keyhole" structures in the deserts of Arabia. In the 1920s, Royal Air Force pilots crossing the Middle East noticed something extraordinary across the landscapes of Syria, eastern Jordan and Saudi Arabia: giant stone structures, like carved wheels, visible only from the sky. More than 400 previously undocumented "gates" have since been uncovered using new technologies.

Barely visible from the ground, they stand out beautifully from a few hundred feet up or in satellite imagery. They may have been hunting traps used by nomadic tribes, or tombs. These structures are found in the Black Desert and date to approximately 2600 to 2000 BC.
